ADVANCED DESIGN

The FPT offers improved accuracy by:

  • Automatically stopping penetration at the correct depth.
  • Controlling speed of penetration with a unique compression chamber providing resistance and slowing penetration.
  • Providing force gage accuracy verification with test weights.

Puncture Tester

The FPT Puncture Tester is dedicated to quality control of soft materials testing using a needle penetrometer.

A stainless steel puncture module containing a thin sharp needle 1/16'' [1.6mm] is attached to a Wagner FDK Force Gage.

As the module is pressed against the test sample, the needle penetrates and the surrounding barrel indepentantly retracts, stopping penetration at 5/16'' [8 mm]. The force gage records and retains the peak force reading until released.

Accuracy through repeatability is further enhanced by the built-in compression chamber providing gentle resistance - back pressure - to the penetration. Controlling penetration speed eases the needle into the test sample preventing an abrupt penetration.

FTK 100 Test Stand

The Wagner FTK 100 Test Stand provides added control of hardness testing resulting in greater accuracy through repeatability.

In addition to handheld use, the FPT can be mounted on the FTK 100 Test Stand for a higher degree of accuracy through closer test control. The FTK 100 is lightweight and compact for portability and features lever or handwheel operation and a 10'' x 10'' platform.

 
  PUNCTURE TEST™ FPT SPECIFICATIONS
 
CONSTRUCTION:
The FPT combines the compact FDK Force Gage with the all stainless steel PTM Puncture Module. The PTM incorporates a return spring and a piston with open ports for flushing with water.

PEAK HOLD: Peak readings are held until the button is pressed.

GRADUATIONS: Dual graduations in pounds, grams and Newtons.

Accessories: Spare needle, verification hook, manual and case.

OPERATION:
Simply press the FPT into the test sample with slow steady force against the gage resistance until the FPT piston stops automatically. The peak force reading is displayed on the force gage.

Test Stand Hardness Testing

The Wagner FTK 100 Test Stand provides added control of hardness testing with greater accuracy thru repeatability.

The FPT is mounted on the FTK 100 with a large 6'' x 10'' work area, 3'' horizontal clearance and 13'' vertical travel. Test samples up to 6'' in diameter can be tested on the FTK 100. The compact FTK 100 weighs only 10 pounds for easy portability.
